Sewing Machine Basics

New sewing machine sitting in the box? Threading issues driving you crazy? This free Sewing Machine Basics class is designed for absolute beginners who want to finally feel comfortable using their sewing machine.

Held twice a month on the fourth Wednesday and fourth Sunday, this one-hour class will walk students through the essential sewing machine skills every beginner needs to know. Bring your own machine and learn step-by-step how to:

• Thread your sewing machine correctly
• Wind and install a bobbin
• Start and stop sewing smoothly
• Change between basic stitches
• Understand basic machine controls
• Clean and maintain your sewing machine

This is a relaxed, beginner-friendly sewing class focused entirely on learning your machine — not completing a project. By the end of class, students will feel more confident operating their sewing machine and ready for beginner sewing projects at home.

Space is limited, so advance registration is required.

Ready for the next step? Students can continue building their skills in our follow-up beginner sewing project class two weeks later, where you'll learn how to make a simple pillowcase project from start to finish!
